What being listed means
A listed surveyor consents to being nominated by building owners using the wizard. Nomination is not appointment — appointment is a separate statutory step under Section 10 of the Party Wall etc. Act 1996, made in writing between the parties and the surveyor off-platform.
Directory only — non-agency
Party Wall Notices UK operates a directory only. We do not introduce, refer, broker or recommend any individual surveyor for any particular instruction. We do not vouch for the quality, suitability or competence of any listed surveyor's work, and we are not a party to any engagement that follows. Any engagement, retainer, fee agreement or appointment is a direct matter between the building owner (or adjoining owner) and the surveyor concerned. Nothing on this site creates an agency, partnership or joint-venture relationship between Konstruction (UK) Ltd and any listed surveyor.
Qualifying bodies
To be listed, a surveyor must be a current member of at least one of the following professional bodies or learned societies:
- The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS);
- The Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors (FPWS); or
- The Pyramus & Thisbe Society (P&T).
Membership of more than one body is welcome and will be displayed. Membership status may be checked at any time and a listing may be suspended if membership lapses.
Professional indemnity insurance
Each listed surveyor must confirm, and keep in force at all times while listed, professional indemnity (PI) insurance appropriate to party wall work and to the value of instructions they accept through the directory. The minimum cover required by the surveyor's qualifying body or by their accepted instructions, whichever is higher, applies. We may ask for evidence at any time and will suspend a listing where evidence is not provided within a reasonable period.
Two-tier notifications
Tier 1 notifications share only the notice type, the postcode area and the service date. Tier 2 notifications, sharing the BO's contact details, are sent only when the BO opts in.
Surveyor obligations
- Maintain current membership in good standing with at least one of the bodies or societies listed above.
- Maintain appropriate PI insurance (see above).
- Keep contact information up to date.
- Respond to nominations within a reasonable time.
- Act impartially under section 10(10) of the Act once formally appointed.
A 30-day off-switch is available via the opt-out link in any notification email; you may also email us to suspend or remove your listing at any time.
