- Party Wall Notices UK — surveyor-built generator. £48 inc VAT for one notice, or from £30 each for multiples. Includes acknowledgement form, surveyor nomination, free 10-day reminder letter.
- Party wall surveyor — a surveyor drafts the notice on your behalf. Fees vary by scope and are commonly bundled into a wider service; ask for an estimate.
What you actually pay for
At every price point you are buying compliance, not just paperwork. A defective notice may be challenged or require re-service, which can delay the statutory timetable. A missing acknowledgement form can also mean having to re-serve the notice and restart the timetable.
What the dissent path costs
Your neighbour may consent in writing, dissent expressly, or fail to respond. Written consent can allow the process to continue without a Party Wall Award where the Act permits it. For Section 3 and Section 6, an express dissent or no written consent after the 14-day response period can give rise to a deemed dispute and start the surveyor process. Section 1 astride-boundary work requires written consent for that option. The cost then depends on whether both owners appoint one Agreed Surveyor or appoint a surveyor each; building owners ordinarily pay both sides' reasonable fees. Ask for a fee estimate before appointing anyone.
How to keep total costs down
- Speak to your neighbour before serving — informal goodwill prevents many dissents.
- Use the agreed-surveyor route where possible.
- Serve the right notice for the works — over-noticing is harmless but under-noticing restarts the clock.
